JUST FINISHED 'THE WORLD IN WINTER' AND THOUGHT IT WAS SUPERB (I POSTED MORE DETAILED COMMENTS OVER AT THE VAULT). I really can't believe that John Christopher (Samuel Youd) isn't more recognised today - for me he is easily the equal of wyndham if not his better.
oh and i'm starting 'a wrinkle in the skin' next.

finished 'a wrinkle in the skin' - john christopher and it was truelly excellent.
the last third was very reminiscent of 'the road' by cormac mccarthy and there was a lot more 'thought' in this one. it wasn't the lightning read that 'the death of grass' and 'the world in winter' were but it did not suffer because of this. a truelly excellent novel.

Slightly off tangent there is the Quest of the DNA cowboys by Mick Farren; more sf but it deals with a post-apocalyptic world
