We call it Hogmany, a time to keep the fires burning and hold back the forces of evil. The sun king will return to rule the skies but only if our hearts are strong and the water of life courses through our frigid veins. Best of luck out there.
Ir's dark.

That's the strangest New Year message I've ever seen, Craig! Anyway, a Happy New Year/Decade to everyone here - and let's hope the weather starts to warm up soon.

Stay safe and well and have a good year

Sounds like a nightmare Penelope. Hope the rest of the year is slightly less trying.

Looks like this board will boast one of the strangest - but when we can look back on it and laugh - possibly the most original New Year threads, anywhere. What can I add to Penni's elve-sabotaged dishwasher, boiler and tumble-drier? I can definitely empathise. This morning my old Rover slid out of control on ice on a steep hill and effectively wrote itself off, going straight into a wall, when I was driving the 6-year-old to school? Last time I logged in here, I really thought last year's catalogue of disasters had ended; but since then there've been late night ambulance call outs an until someone finally had the sense to prescribe morphine, when really nothing else would do. But the good news is that no-one was seriously hurt in the crash, and other things seem to be improving. I feel positively superstitious about saying more than that. But looking at the brave face Penni's showing when talking about her own disasters, and seeing another story posted here, it's really inspiring. I'd got a sizeable post readied before the mischievous elves struck, so I'll return to that now, and let's hope the coming year gets better for all of us. And if there are any more elves around...
