I've gone a bit 1970's old school lately with Richard Kirk's Raven: Swordmistress of Chaos.
The books - by Robert Holdstock and Angus Wells operating under the pen name of Kirk - are part of that British pulp tradition that included the Berserker series (also by Holdstock writing as Chris Carlsen) as well as numerous horror and western titles by writers like Guy N. Smith, Charles Pike and, of course, George G. Gilman.
The Raven books are fast paced, fun and undemanding - not brilliant by any means but they pass the time pleasantly enough.
