Rog - is the bit where we can post stories (and artwork) now "members only"? We obviously don't want anyone looking in and nicking things. I did some looking around and made that board only accessible to members. It's also possible to hide that category and board, but I'm trying one thing at a time here and don't want to make things too complicated. Thanks for the info on karma and the ever-enigmatic Des Lewis's profile(s). There isn't a great deal here to keep people browsing yet.

Thanks for the info on karma and the ever-enigmatic Des Lewis's profile(s). I'm still confused. This board is like a DF Lewis story. ;-)

I'm still confused. This board is like a DF Lewis story. ;-) Well, you know where I got the inspiration then! I've decided to take Des's comment more seriously than he obviously intended. Some of this is going over old stuff, but that won't hurt any. The original idea was to deal with new writing here, whether small press or mass-market. But almost immediately reviews of older books appeared, so I thought 'If there's an interest in that - which I happen to share - then why not have it? Otherwise, with solely new writing, this site will just be a Shocklines clone. I abandoned the idea of yet another site for the older stuff, because, simply, it would just take too much time bouncing around so many different sites! Who has the time for that? I don't. Caroline has pointed out that some people will feel safer about posting new fiction to a members only thread where work is less likely to be ripped off. In fact this has happened in the past, so I changed this workshop thread to members only. But as other writers will doubtless prefer their work to be seen by guests browsing the site, then I created a second, open workshop thread here. You can take your pick which to use. I've just read in a workshop post that someone would prefer his work to be in the restricted section. If people let me know I can move their threads. Please let me know, on this thread, where you want your work. For the moment, it's now all in the restricted section for safety, while this is sorted out. Yes, this is just like a D F Lewis story. I've looked at the restricted words screener and deleted all the words on it except the racist 'N' word. So that should be the only one to be changed automatically by the site. That's all I can think of for now, but if anyone has any suggestions or questions, let me know.

[Yes, this is just like a D F Lewis story. I must say I don't understand the Vault any more either! And I've secretly been on there with my secret user name of 'nemonymous' but still none the wiser. I wish them luck.
