I find it oddly quiet recently.

I'm here. I think Rog had a problem with his computer. There aren't many of us anyway.

It is a little worrying, and confusing I think. Some people are still posting things in the Workshop on the Vault, others here, and others in both. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I think we really do need some clarification as to what this board is for. If the idea is to move what was the Workshop in the Vault over to here, then that needs to be made clear.
LATER EDIT: Oh, BTW, I do believe that Rog is currently busy putting together the next issue of FC. Perhaps he'll have more time to clarify things here once he's done that?

i wouldn't worry to much Caroline. I think its better to have this site in existence because as far as I can see it simply the Workshop and stories should come here. It might well be a slow process to cultivate people but again that's okay. The vault is well established (even it is quiet at the moment) The Worskshop website isn't. It'll take a while

Why not put it on here, Lobo, and in the Vault Workshop too? You can cut and paste to both boards, no problem. Then, see who you get a response from on which ever board ...

I'm writing this during a rare and unexpected quiet moment at work.
1: I see no reason why fiction posted here shouldn't also be posted at the old Vault workshop. It's your work and obviously you want it to get as much attention as possible.
2: I haven't been inactive, but very very busy and with very limited internet time. I hope that a wireless router will solve at least one of those problems.
Yes the DTP work on FC has gone on. The illustration has also gone on offline. I'm also working on a cover for another small press publication mentioned often here.
I admit that the events at the Vault following close behind the mindless deletion of a website that had been a years-long project, made me think quite seriously about the net and whether I needed it at all. Time'll tell.
Anyway, right now I'd better get back to my paid job before someone walks in.

To add to the comments I made last night at work (and posts to the FC thread and Des's Small Press Ark threads made earlier today)... The basic idea behind this forum was given in the message which flashes at the the top of this site, namely to provide a place for authors and artists to publish their work (or news of it). I've also said ages back that to make the place more interesting, people can post on other, earlier publications if they want to, otherwise the place will simply be a Shocklines clone. If they want to also make those posts at other sites, I've said before that that's fine, too. All I've done here is provided an interface - this forum - with a basic idea what it's intended for and who it's intended to be helpful to. I can't keep repeating things, and, without wishing to offend here, I certainly can't write your posts for you. I agree it's not good for a forum when an 'administrator' can't get to it for ages, so thanks to those who have had the great patience to continue posting or browsing here. I know it's been an age. I regret that I can't receive email to my old address as - following the formatting of my computer's hard disk at the repair shop - the execrable Orange has now proved unable to help me set up Outlook. I'm working on that problem and meanwhile have bought myself out of Orange and am shifting to Sky as an internet provider. They've been provided with the authorization code to take over, so it should be only days for the switchover now. But once again, it's really up to you how you use this site. So far we've had posts on Charles Black's Black Book, original art from Coral King and yours truly, original fiction by at least three members, one or two posts on the original Weird Tales, London weird fiction magazine One Eye Grey, Des Lewis's amazing Small Press Ark (a thread 12 pages long when last visited), Justin Marriott's very worth Paperback Fanatic, and reviews of older fiction. I don't think we have a film section yet, but that'll probably come soon. Any more suggestions? It's unlikely this site will ever come close to rivaling the Vault for material. On the other hand, writers and artists needn't feel hesitant about posting their work here.

I don't see myself as a writer (well, not much of one anyway), and I'm definitely not an artist, so I haven't really felt able to contribute much so far. I do look every few days though! I also suggested earlier a possible thread for "markets" - so that we can post info about publications seeking contributions, etc.

I also suggested earlier a possible thread for "markets" - so that we can post info about publications seeking contributions, etc. Information about markets would definitely be useful to most people using the site, Caroline. I'm just wondering whether a new section for markets would be a good or bad idea... There's no harm mentioning market requirements on a thread devoted to an existing publication. Afterwards, submission details and link might be added to another section for easy access. Films might include anything interesting going around the cinema circuits or TV at the mement - and it occurred to me weeks ago that I'd seen a couple of good films made by members of Thomas Ligotti Online. By the way I've opened an account with Windows Live, so since the above post I've got a new email address: rogpileAThotmail.co.uk Naturally you'll need to replace AT with @ Anything sent to the old 'wengore...' address is stuck on the Orange mail server. I'm searching through the spam there for any real messages, but that address is obviously no longer useable.

General, perhaps?) about a publication seeking contributors, but it was a new publication - no existing thread, as no previous copies. Or was it an ezine rather than actual paper mag? Can't remember now - brain gone dead at the moment. Anyway, the point is, I think a separate thread for markets is best. There may not be an existing thread to put it on!

Well,I posted it and I'd realy like a comment. As said before, anyone can tell me if theres a specific story they want a coment on and I'll get to it in repaying you,but Im tight on time recently. Anyway, here is the story link. filthycreations.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=fiction2&thread=91Also,I would like to inquire if this site and FC for that matter, wouldnt care for some of my reviews, my LBL Reviews being weird fiction reviews that are either obscure or unrated, but well known .For instance,my planed review now is a short one on two tales "THE FINLESS DEATH" and "THE MAZE" by Robert Ernest Vernedeout from "Port Arlington Stories" and after that a review of the original contents of M.R.James' "Ghost stories of an antiquary".There are 13 reviews finished and posted, all of them obtainable only on SF chronicles for now.
