Now let's see if I remember how to do a post. And yes, I do feel horribly embarrassed showing my face here after such a long absence. Sorry, but I just couldn't face making any more apologies for the delay, so the only alternative was to keep going quietly and stop posting. However, the first two copies of FC 5 are now in the post and, hopefully, first class mail will get them to their addresses in time to beat the postal strike - which I think will be on Thursday. The illustration above is to celebrate what I thought was a bit of a milestone. It's the first double-page spread to appear in FC, and I drew it for the 5th and concluding chapter of Franklin Marsh's The Horror On Dreadstone Moor - a serial that's grown on me as I've read successive episodes and found them increasingly likeable and consistently entertaining. There's more to add, but lengthy posts aren't usually a good idea, so I'll end this one. Except to say, all the best and thank you for your patience. Hell, did you need it!

No,DO NOT feel embarrased with ANYTHING Rog. What with everything that has gone on yours and Corals life FC5 is utterly insignificant,I am however full of admiration that you marched on with the whole project. This could be a good lesson to my own rather crappy work ethic. Rog this is fantastic stuff matey

What with everything that has gone on yours and Corals life FC5 is utterly insignificant,I am however full of admiration that you marched on with the whole project. Thanks, Corpsey. For the record, Coral has at last learned that she's to get an operation - there was agonising doubt (and a lot of real agony for her) for some time - though the date for the operation has yet to be set. During the past months the transcient nature of internet material has become apparent ( two of my sites have now been deleted, and two reputable ezines, Pantechnicon and Noctem Aeternus have disappeared). I hope that the likes of Charles Black's Black Book series, Des Lewis's Nemonymous, Coral King's The Thinking Man's Crumpet, Chris Wood's BHF Books of Horror Stories, and this site's own FC, will prove more durable. Here's hoping! Anyway, before I get all carried away, it sure gives me a buzz actually being able to hold them in my hands! So I hope we get more of all of them.

The BHF Book Three I am sure will come out sooner or later, all the stories are there and the art is done I just think Chris' little boy has taken all his time up.
All the best.

It's getting a bit late, but I can think of one more post needed here tonight: The authors contributing to FC 5 (and I hope they remember they're in it after all this time) are: Franklin Marsh James Sanger D F Lewis Noah Brown P F Jeffery Rog Pile Art by Adrian Salmon and self Consultative Editor Coral King (she nags a lot) There is more, but possibly this thread isn't the place for it. But from now on, it should be just case of watching the post.

Good to exchange messages with you again, Des. I was beginning to worry that I'd been away too long (the beauty of understatement always did appeal to me). I've glimpsed people online now and again over the months, you at TLO. At that time I thought that mailing FC was imminent. But it turned out not to be the case. Anyway, that's history, and I'll be getting on with more printing now.

Hey, Rog, welcome back! And happy birthday and much love to Coral from me too. Just to put you right on one thing: ... and two reputable ezines, Pantechnicon and Noctem Aeternus have disappeared). Pantechnicon hasn't completely disappeared - or else I'm working my socks off getting the next issue done when it doesn't exist any more! I put another thread about it somewhere here, but basically the next issue (Dec 2009) is going out back-to-back with Theaker's Quarterly Fiction on the TQF website. And, although my last post on the subject said that would be the very last issue, there is in fact now going to be an April 2010 issue too. So it's not quite gone yet! But back to FC - how do I order a copy, Rog?

And, although my last post on the subject said that would be the very last issue, there is in fact now going to be an April 2010 issue too. So it's not quite gone yet! But back to FC - how do I order a copy, Rog? Hi Caroline. Thanks for the card that you sent us some time ago. And I'm glad to be wrong about Pantechnicon. I think I'll grab a quote from on of your posts on the This Board thread, which I noticed yesterday: ...Now that the Pantechnicon forum is gone too (which is where I used to spend most of my time), I'm at a bit of a loss for forums. There is a newish one I joined - it was posted here somewhere - about British Horror Novels, but since my interest is more short stories than novels, that one doesn't look like my thing either. If only I could find a site dedicated to British Horror Shorts which welcomes all kinds of horror - old and new, books and film/TV - I'd be happy. Yes, couldn't agree more. I used to worry about this site becoming a sort of imitation Vault. But the time spent offline has been useful because I came to realise that just couldn't happen anyway. The emphasis is different; here, it's on writing, not horror fiction history. There will obviously be some overlapping of subjects, but that's fine. It doesn't matter a bit. Older writing is something we all read and enjoy, and I even started a section for the original Weird Tales here. This forum already has some material on novels; horror, detective, SF. There are sections for film slideshows, and also an audio section which I think still needs to really get off the ground. At around the time I left, some members were recording their own stories and posting them to the net - which I thought was pretty exciting. I'm sure I've said this before, but maybe it'll be useful to repeat it for any new members - it's really up to the members how this forum develops. A section devoted to links to useful sites - e.g. Theaker's Quarterly, that would be good, too. I need to catch up on what's been going on here and also remind myself what's in the forum and what's needed. ****************************************************** As for ordering FC, I've got a file of names and addresses of interested people, and I usually work my way through it, posting magazines as I print them, starting with contributor's copies. As a contributor to a previous issue of FC, it would only b a matter of time before you got a copy, Caroline. You don't get away that easily.

I do hope this forum does continue to grow,I do intend to make more of a contribution as the small press is what gave me life as writer and I am always thankful to anyone who places a story of mine into their publication.
Nothing against The Vault at all but I do get really lost on that forum because there is just so many topics and I feel like a stranger in the community. Flithy Forums may not have near as many members but then it hasn't been going a fraction of the time and the B.H.F has taken a long, long time to get the amount of memebrs it currently has.
I see this forum as something different from The Vault and The BHF and a forum I really hope can gather momentum.

The vault is way to big for the amount of posting which takes place there . So no wonder one feels lost

Cal , hoping to stil catch you : so does this mean FC 6 is open for submission ? I have nothing in this one and so the shipping costs would be a little on the unjustifiable side towards the "treasury" . .
