This is a quick post, copied over because I like old radio plays. Or new ones.
Saving the MP3s is no longer quite as straighforward as it used to be. These days you need to convert them before putting them on an audio CD to play where you like.
To convert them, I found this nifty little Freeware download, which is dead easy to use. Convert them to .wav files (or whatever) and they play on your stereo: www.tucows.com/preview/382226
Some of the links below will need changing, but it's a start. Hopefully plenty of posts this weekend.
The Radio Horror Links thread was one of Dem's best ideas at the old Vault. I thought so anyway. I love listening to these old shows. A lot of them are a bit creaky, but last night I heard one that really put the grue back into gruesome.
Click here to find a download of The Price of Fear - An Eye For an Eye
You can either left-click on that site's link for streaming radio. Or if you don't have broadband, you can right-click, then "Save Target As..." to save a stand-alone MP3 to your desktop. It takes about half an hour to download a half-hour show that way with a dial-up connection.
The Price of Fear is a British show but introduced by Vincent Price.
A lot more links need placing here. Half the old thread vanished.

The latest episodes of Mystery Theater to be uploaded include one about a Killer Crab!
Here's the link for Orson Welles' Mercury Theater on the Air; also for his later Campbell Theater Playhouse, which has a download of Rebecca - which I thought a bit too short but includes a transatlantic phone conversation between Welles and Daphne Du Maurier. You'll also find The War of the Worlds here, which still packs quite a punch.

The Zoot Radio site has closed, disabled by spammers. But it's been reborn in the form of OTR@154.co. Not such a snappy name, maybe, but useful for radio downloads.
I think the Fear on Four page has gone, but I got to it on time to download the ENTIRE SERIES. Something tells me that the shared file page shouldn't be openly accessible, but nonetheless it is. Find it here.
Presently available are Dark Venture, Dark Shadows. Sherlock Holmes and quite a bit more.

Want to listen to the Fear on Four episode with Stephen Gallagher's The Horn (a Best New Horror entry?
You'll probably have to be a member of Zoot Radio to access this next link:
This page - apparently on the old Zoot Radio site - no longer seems to have Fear on Four stories, but there's a hellof a lot to interest you, including episodes of Beyond Midnight with Elizabeth Bowen's Demon Lover and others: Zoot Radio Archive.
To save the files to your desktop, right-click, then Save Target/Link, then convert the files as suggested at the top of this page. Or just listen to them as you browse as streaming audio.

The Ghost Train was written in 1923 by Arnold Ridley, who much later became known as Private Godfrey in the BBC's Dad's Army.
There was a film version made in 1931 starring comedian Jack Hulbert, of which five reels of picture and two reels of soundtrack survive. It was remade in 1941, starring Arthur Askey, with the story updated to the Second World War.
The 1937 Will Hay comedy Oh, Mr Porter! is loosely based on the plot of this play (some of these details copied from Wikipedia.).
Wikipedia doesn't mention or date this BBC play.
I've tried to find this CD on the net, but can't see it. Whether it's still available, heaven knows (the second film version is). Anyway, if you're curious, for a limited time only, here it is:

For a long time I've had the link above to the Old Time Radio Fans site, which has free MP3 downloads of old Shadow stories.
Recently I've found a whole lot more free OTR sites. I like this stuff because I can listen to it while I'm working. As far as I know, most of it is out of copyright - I'll avoid the more recent stuff.
One site linked below, Ear to the Weird, offers no less than 228 episodes of The Shadow, dating back to Season 4 (1937-38) with Orson Welles and Agnes Moorehead:
