Currently reading The Forever War by Joe Haldeman (for the upteenth time) and working my way through The Emperor Of Dreams, an excellent anthology of the work of Clark Ashton Smith.
My current watching has been highlighted by two extremely bonkers movies: Takeshi Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django (strange but great) and György Pálfi's Taxidermia, which is, without doubt one of the most disturbing films I've seen in a long time (and I've seen some doozies in my day).
Today I bought a copy of The Evil Of Frankenstein with the great Peter Cushing... can't wait to see it again.

Disturbing isn't the word! It's an intriguing film, however, beautifully shot and acted, with more than a few moments of very macabre comedy. Not one to be watched after a big meal however (particularly the speed-eating scenes).
In some ways it kinda reminded me of a low-budget British movie called (I think) The Revenge of Billy the Kid, but with a lot more gravitas.
Taxidermia is worth checking out but be warned it's a hard ride at times.

reading alistair macleans 'hms ulysees' I found that an incredibly harrowing read. Currently wading through Arrow In The Sun (aka Soldier Blue) by T V Olsen, and during a trip to the local hospital for yet another blood test and scan I managed half of Agatha Christie's Endless Night.

and during a trip to the local hospital for yet another blood test and scan Oh dear, I don't like the sound of that, Franklin. Hope you're OK.

I'm reading Vance (as usual) and also Brendan Beehan's 'Borstal Boy'. Strange, but I sometimes read 'normal' books and apart from ancient history it never fails to disappoint.

Currently wading through Arrow In The Sun (aka Soldier Blue) by T V Olsen, and during a trip to the local hospital for yet another blood test and scan I managed half of Agatha Christie's Endless Night. Bloodtests and scans are worrying things. Look after yourself, mate. It's odd how much attention the screen version of Soldier Blue got at the time, and how little it gets now. I must admit I still find it a difficult film to watch. What I'm doing... Have read and enjoyed TTMC 2 and more of Cone Zero; half-way through John Lymington's The Giant Stumbles. Been restoring a certain website. The only TV watching has been episodes of the original Star Trek (series one) and one old film... Squirm, about flesh-eating worms, all shown on the Sci Fi Channel

... and one old film... Squirm, about flesh-eating worms Oh heck, mention of that film brings back memories. I have an intense dislike of worms. Back in the 70s, when that film was at the cinema, a boyfriend of mine at the time decided it'd be a good idea to take me to see that, and go for a Chinese meal (bean sprouts, noodles, that kind of thing) afterwards. Needless to say, he didn't remain a boyfriend for very long!

I'm recreating Issue one in the dtp for Caroline to take along to altfiction as well as Issue2. Desperately trying to maintain my Nitendo pinata garden against the depredations of the dreaded Rachel monster, and having great fun building my blogger page, and my horror mall page. Having not so much fun putting in a lot of time "networking" at freewebs, myspace and facebook, god I hate it. Waiting to see the surgeon to arrange the latest bowel resection, hyped up on steroids and permanent antibiotics, yukkk. I got two David Attenboroughs in a charity shop sale for a quid, my sort of price Endless episodes of Cardcaptors anime on in the background, Rachel's latest fad, oh god and Care Bears, a total sentimental vomitfest, arrggghhh. And my favorite game, when I can fit it in, is Animal Crossing-Wild World, on Nintendo DS,I literally switch off and go fishing, think I'll go get me an octopus... Franklin, anything you need just shout x

Oh go on then, I'll tell you what I'm up to if you really insist (not that anyone has, but I can always pretend!) ... ;D I've been so busy with work and things in recent months that my "fun" stuff has gone out of the window. I haven't had time to read much. I haven't even had time to listen to much Jethro Tull, watch any films or telly. But, I'm just starting to catch up with things now, so - along with creating my new blog - I've been pursuing a few interviews again. I've got a couple of Doctor Who-related ones on the go (sorry, can't help being an anorak ), and I'm so excited about one I'm soon to do that I can hardly contain myself from telling you who it is. I'll just say that I'm in contact with the son of a literary and artistic giant, and I think this one certainly will be of interest to folks here when I get it done. And now I've got a few more people to pursue for interview - for TTMC and another Doctor Who one! Of course, I've been doing my bits of editing too - TTMC and helping out with some editing for Pantechnicon (still at a bit of a impasse with Panties at the moment though, I'm afraid ). So that's it - I hope I haven't taken on too much again ... (still got a load of essays on "managing organisational change" to mark though! )

Thanks for your kind words all. I'm OK at present. Finished Endless Night too. Must try and find the film. Toying with Richard Laymon's Blood Games at present. I was suckered in by The Travelling Vampire Show recently, but it'll be interesting to see where he goes with an all female cast. On the film front, Universal oldie Dracula's Daughter and downright weird Don't Go In The Basement - apparently classed as a video nasty in the 1980s but allowed out with a 15 certificate nowadays. Also recently viewed - Chemical Wedding - absolutely bonkers but Simon Callow makes a great Aleister Crowley. Isolation - really good low key horror. The Cottage - slightly improved on second viewing. If you can take the gore and incessant swearing, it's funny and spooky.
