Thanks for your concern, folks. I'm a bit slow on the uptake here - but all the best to Coral. Good luck with everything and hope it can be quickly sorted out. Thinking of you. des

I find that so upsetting. The German's have their faults but their Medical system is excellent - my doctor here is a homoeopath. I recall waiting 24 hours to have a wound on my hand looked at in Manchester's emergency ward. I got the feeling I was sitting next to dead people after about ten hours. The UK NHS system is a "joke" - well, "joke" isn't the right word when people are suffering so much as a result - it's a nightmare, a catastrophe. I was speaking to a friend on the phone the other day, who was telling me about her 70-something mother with dementia and incontinence who'd been left in a soiled hospital bed for so long following a fall that she'd developed sores and an infection. And that's not the hospital that's been in the news recently (the one they tell us is a one-off! Who are they trying to kid?!) - that's a different hospital in a different health area altogether. The system is in total collapse. Rog, don't feel bad about pushing the doctors to get them to help Coral. They HAVE to be pushed. It's ironic that just when people are feeling most ill, and least like fighting for their rights, they have to waste energy pushing for a good service. But you HAVE to push - it's the only way. Keep fighting for her Rog, and hopefully you'll have some good news about her health for us soon.

^when my daughter was born the midwife asked me to go and have a look around for a lamp so she could see what she was doing and then asked me why the mechanical bed wasn't working

My best wishes to Coral.
You certainly hear all sorts of horror stories about the NHS, but my partner is Romanian and in order to even get a doctor to give any treatment or get a hospital bed over there, you have to bribe the doctors.
