I wish I knew how to do such things. I am really impressed, Rog.

It probably took an hour or two to figure out and to find the right picture file on the computer, Des.
But aside from that, Picasa does all the work!

I am impressed with this, Rog. Wish I knew how to do stuff like that! As I said above, David. The programs do the technical stuff for me. I use Photoshop less and less - just for 'cleaning up' jobs really. The other program mentioned above started out as a free tool for organizing pictures, then just sort of mutated! At the moment I'm trying to do a colouring job similar to the cover for FC 6. It's not coming together as quickly as that cover did. I think also I need to start thinking of some drawings as part-page 'fillers' rather than complicated full-pagers as they just take so long to complete. I'm afraid I might also have to join the ranks of mobile phone owners, too, as YouTube insist on it before any really lengthy videos can be uploaded. Talking too much again. Always a sign that I've spent too long at the computer!

Here's the sound version, courtesy of The Androids with Craig Herbertson. I see Craig returned the video at 10:35 this morning, but as luck would have it, I've been offline until this evening. Sorry Craig. Now with sound

Colouring the Sendings illustration was proving tricky. Colour was never my strong point, and I'm using the same method as for the cover of FC 6 - namely Photoshop Quick Mask, sometimes used for tinting photos. Quick mask identifies shaded areas (pencil shading from the scan) and intensifies colour accordingly. Areas are selected for a certain colour (e.g. skin tones) and 'painted' - which shows up red. Then a new layer is created to work on and the painted areas are changed to the desired hue or tint by moving 3 sliders between 6 colours. Well finally I'm getting the effect I want. I'm gonna have to give the heroine of TheDeath Tableax a haircut. I always fancied drawing a girl with a low in-the-eyes 'sixties type fringe. She looks cute, but it breaks my heart that some of the hair will have to go, as she doesn't look smart enough to be Craig's Doctor Peralis! (Two years ago I began a sketch which showed her with librarian glasses.) Franklin's cricketer meant looking at lots of black and white photos of W G Grace. He was quite easy until I started on the hands holding the cricket bat... (Thinks: Maybe I should have kept quiet and hoped no one noticed.) Trying to come up with a composition involving mushrooms and melted people that won't render the stories redundant. Think I should scan the doomed Doc Peralis before an eraser renders her but a fond memory. The DTP file is now over 100 pages (too long!!!) and every time I adjust the tabs for one story, two paragraphs of it reduce the text size so it has to be reformatted. In short, enjoying myself as usual.
