One of the grand masters of sci-fi and fantasy adventure passed away today.
Philip Jose Farmer. He was the second author I ever read. (ERB was the first.) I loved many of his books and it's thanks to him and other 'old time' authors that I write myself today.
Life's a bitch and then you die. And thus your ashes fill the sky. Go now and walk down Heaven's long halls. Eternity beckons, forever calls. Jaqhama 2006.

Farmer was one of the greats and, as I said on the SF Reader forums, one of the few sf writers who could be really filthy when the mood took him.
There's a scene in Image of the Beast and one in A Feast Unknown which bring tears to my eyes just thinking about them.
