The Fantasycon issue of Estronomicon from Screaming Dreams is available for download www.screamingdreams.com/ezine/FantasyCon2008.pdf. Featuring cover art by award-winning Vincent Chong, this issue contains my story ‘Forever Autumn’, alongside fiction by Tony Richards, Charles Black, Neil Davies, Paul Kane, and Marie O’Regan. There are loads of great photographs from the event, as well as observations and thoughts by Lee Moan, Vincent Chong, Geoff Nelder, Allyson Bird, and Steve Upham.

Looks really plush. I got through a couple of stories before burning out. I regret to say I have just never been able to read online with the same pleasure as I do, propped in bed with paper pages. I have a feeling that younger people will just accept this but I can't. Wish I could.
I really enjoyed Mr Black's tale. Might have another go later

This looks good Steve. I must admit, I'm the same as Craig when it comes to reading online though - I can't do it too much as my eyes aren't up to it. Plus my printer isn't working properly at the moment ...

I agree with you both on the preferred media. It's paper for me every time, too.
I can't ever imagine a time when I'd use one of those E-book devices. For me, books are more than the words printed on them; they're the feel of the pages, the weight of the book, the texture of the paper. Even the smell.
You can't replicate that in cyberspace.

Someone once painted a scenario for me. It went like this. Computers shrink, you can download everything on to something the size of yor hand you can put text into it and you can transport anywhere you like
After a moments pause some else said. We have that already. Its called a book.

I read most of the stuff I like online these days.
I don't find it a problem.
Changing the text size to large can help.
If you know you're going to be reading for a couple of hours...make sure you blink every few minutes. Non blinking while reading off a computer screen is what makes your eyes sore. You can also use an eye drop every hour. Makes a big diff.
I have to look at computer monitor screens as part of my job at night. So I've got all that stuff worked out by now.
You can also download a story into MS word and on desktop settings change the background colour from white to light grey. I do that when I write my stories. Makes a big difference, no bright screen glare.
As an aside: Screaming Dreams is the small press publisher that published Allyson Bird's horror novel: Bull Running for Girls.
Cheers: Jaq.
